CARVER
M-1.0T amplifiers.  The parts in the kit have increased voltage ratings as needed for the MK II conversion, as described on thecarversite.com.
Electrolytic capacitors, especially those made in the 1980's, age poorly.  They fail as open circuits, where they lose capacitance which can cause hum, loss of clarity and "punch," and add distortion.  They can also become "leaky" and fail as short circuits.  This type of failure can cause pops, distortion and power supply failures, that can kill the audio signal entirely.
"Re-capping" an amplifier is commonly done for the following reasons:
To repair an existing problem or failure in an amp.
To restore the audio quality of the amp.
To reduce the possibility of future capacitor failures and improve the reliability of the amp.
The kit contains 28 replacement electrolytic capacitors.  To assure highest reliability, the capacitors in the kit are from a premier manufacturer, where possible, have a high temperature rating (105 deg C), and when practical, higher voltage and high established lifetime.  The kit includes replacements for all of the electrolytic capacitors on the MA-655 power supply/amp board and input board, with the exception of the six large power supply rail capacitors, which are available on a separate listing.
A comprehensive installation guide to aid in the refurbishment of your amplifier is included.  The installation manual gives detailed instructions with photos, showing how to replace the capacitors.  The manual also shows how to calibrate the power supply rails and adjust the amp bias

The parts are brand new and meet or exceed the specifications of the original parts.  The listing is for a parts kit only, not the complete amplifier.
This parts kit is ideal for getting that prized amplifier in shape for the next decade or two of service!
The parts can be replaced by a person with limited soldering skills.  A soldering iron, solder wick and solder are needed to replace the parts.  Use standard safety precautions (wear safety glasses, unplug the unit before soldering, good ventilation, etc) when working on your gear.  When you're done soldering, always wash your hands, because solder contains lead.  Please note that replacing components will fix the receiver only if those components were the problem to start with!

Carver amplifiers have high voltages of 120 VAC and +/- 100 VDC present during operation. They have capacitors that can store potentially deadly charges for over one minute after power is disconnected from the amplifier. Repairs to be made by qualified service personnel. We do not want you to get hurt, and we don't want you to hack up these classic amps!!!
