The Baluchis are nomadic people that travel between Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. They speak an Indo-Iranian language close to Persian. Being mostly nomads, they breed sheep, goats, and camels. The Baluchi are renowned for their fine, silk embroidery and indigo- colored carpets. They are also skilled silversmiths, who produce mesmerizing works of art on silver or even white metal. The Baluchis are a proud people. No Baluch husband would want his wife to walk around without a substantial amount of jewelry and beads. This piece is a wonderful example of this proud tradition.
